Of course, 40 days of fasting, and the conversation with Satan. Our rector brought up some interesting points that I think have bearing on the schism in waiting….
“…. command the stone to become a loaf of bread.” Jesus had it in him to feed the hungry and eliminate hunger. Instead, he replied that man does [...]

To all who insist this has been about homophobia…

You stand corrected. Recognize and accept that all this has happened, not because of homosexuals, or “pro-homosexual” policies or TEC “seeking justice”, or whatever wrapping paper has been used to gloss over biblical errancy.
No one has called for an end to the conversation; no one has taken the subject of appropriate pastoral care of gays [...]
Is this victory?

It’s been 2 days, and I have to concede, for the Orthodox, it’s not a loss. But, this seems to not reach the vaunted heights of getting a kiss from your sister, much less “victory”.
It’s true, a gauntlet has been thrown down, and the left in TEC is howling mad. Already, they’re hiding behind procedure [...]
Yes, I think that IS a dagger in my back; albeit a subtle one

****EDITED****
(I still think) TEC has gotten off scot-free.
The communique and schedule are up, and TEC has been given a deadline of Sept. 7 2007 to foreswear the consecration of openly gay / practicing bishops, and foreswear same-sex unions.
Whoop-te-friggin’-do. It’s pretty underwhelming, still.
Already, “liberal” bloggers / clergy are asserting that “we can’t do either of [...]
There’s a dagger in my back, I think

A quick note to say that after perusing SF etc etc, it looks like the Orthodox have well and truly been sold out in Tanzania. There’s considerable “liberal” Anglican Shadenfreude out there….
It looks like the game IS up

From what I’m reading online, TEC won’t be disciplined at all. In fact, the Presiding Heretic has been put on the Joint Standing Committee of the Communion itself. The body that makes policy for the entire communion.
Talk about an endorsement.
My fears are realized. Anglicanism IS a farce; it is utterly beholden to humanism, aka “reason”. Scripture, [...]
So, is the game up?

On Stand Firm, there’s information that the Anglican Communion is, in my words, done. It’s looking like TEC will face no discipline of any sort for it’s heresy and apostasy. The AB of C is looking to not only be a toothless figurehead, but an individual with no desire to adhere to the historic faith. The [...]
Is it time for the “continuing” Anglican Churches to unify?

I was reading this post on “The Continuum” and the thought has crossed my mind before. And the suggestion of (perhaps) a 2nd communal province in North America makes this idea VERY timely and VERY VERY important.
This new province would have, as possibilities, ready-to-use components that can all benefit each other as co-communicants in an [...]
++Williams responds to Spong’s 12 Heresies, sorry, Theses

From here
I had better say at once that, while I believe Bishop Spong has, in these and other matters, done an indispensable task in focusing our attention on questions under-examined and poorly thought through, I believe that these theses represent a level of confusion and misinterpretation that I find astonishing.
He has rightly urged the Church [...]

Just a reminder of what we’re up against:
1. Theism, as a way of defining God, is dead. So most theological God-talk is today meaningless. A new way to speak of God must be found.
2. Since God can no longer be conceived in theistic terms, it becomes nonsensical to seek to understand Jesus as the incarnation [...]
